The Society provides inclusive programs, workshops, and public events that support accessible participation, creative expression, and personal development for people of all abilities. It fosters storytelling, media, performance, and community engagement, and builds partnerships that strengthen representation and connection. The Society advances accessibility and public education, and operates as a non-profit dedicated to community benefit.
ABOUT OUR SOCIETY
We are a disability led arts and advocacy organization founded by Jessica Freedman and Becky Wosk, two longtime collaborators with deep experience in nonprofit organizations, community arts, and disability justice. We created this organization to address the gaps we’ve witnessed firsthand such as barriers to access, representation, and fair opportunities for disabled artists and youth. Our work is rooted in lived experience, creative practice, and a commitment to building systems that honour disabled ways of creating, learning, and leading. Through programs, media, and community partnerships, we aim to make space where disabled voices are centered, supported, and celebrated.
PROGRAMS IN DEVELOPMENT
We are developing a series of disability‑led programs focused on accessible creative expression. These initiatives are currently in planning and will launch as funding and accessibility resources are secured.
Accessible Creative Communication Lab
The Accessible Creative Communication Lab is a digital storytelling program designed for disabled youth ages 15–30. It will offer accessible workshops in narrative development, media creation, communication strategies, and creative expression. Youth will receive mentorship, editing support, and individualized accommodations to help them create short digital stories that reflect their lived experiences.
Accessible Arts & Culture Capacity Building
This initiative focuses on strengthening disability‑led arts and culture infrastructure in our communities. Through accessibility planning and organizational development the program will build long‑term capacity for adult and youth artists with disabilities. It aims to establish sustainable, disability‑centered arts programming and mentoring to expand access to creative opportunities.
